# Product insights

Product insights turns a webshop’s product catalogue into structured, comparable data - so you can understand what a retailer sells, how its assortment changes over time, and how it compares to similar webshops.

#### What it is

Product insights breaks down the product catalogue of most webshops and structures it using Google product taxonomy (with 2,000+ sub-categories). You can explore categories and sub-categories to get a clear view of a retailer’s product strategy.

The underlying dataset is built through continuous monitoring at scale of +1 million webshops and +400 million products.

#### How it works

Product insights structures a webshop’s catalogue and updates it every two weeks, so you can track how product portfolios develop over time - what is added, reduced, or phased out.

Key components include:

* **Brand and product breakdowns**\
  See which brands a webshop sells, total product count, and how products distribute across product categories - with time series so you can pinpoint range expansion or contraction.
* **Portfolio change tracking**\
  Drill into category or brand to see what is growing, shrinking, and how the category mix shifts over time.
* **Product weight and dimensions view**\
  Visualise a catalogue by weight and estimated dimensions, with price bands and weight ranges to understand operational implications (for example, how much of the range sits in heavier or oversized ranges).

#### Market-level trend analysis

Product insights is not limited to single retailers. You can zoom out and analyse how categories, brands, product sizes, and price levels shift across markets.

This is useful for tracking:

* Category momentum and decline
* Brand expansion and contraction
* Shifts in average price levels or product profiles by market, industry, or platform

#### Benchmarking and prospecting with similar webshops

Product insights includes a way to discover and benchmark similar webshops based on matching assortment structure, traffic level, and category focus. This supports fast comparisons and can surface relevant prospects in the same segment.
